The Latest member of our family

Look who's nesting right outside the window by my computer... yesterday it rained so hard I wished I could give her/him a little umbrella! And yes, I said "her/him" - I looked up mourning doves and found out that the male is in the nest from mid-morning until late afternoon, at which time the female takes over.

It must be my midwest roots, but I am fascinated by all the water here in Virginia! The ocean, rivers, bays... in Tulsa, the main water sighting is usually the (dry) Arkansas River. So I went on a field trip again... the small boat harbor in Newport News.
